Spiritual Warfare against Human Trafficking

Our enemy seeks to destroy.

Jesus came to bring abundant life.

As followers of Jesus, filled with the Spirit, we are agents of hope and healing.

Humans are not things to be used, yet this is exactly what human trafficking does. It strips humans of their humanity and turns them into commodities. Human trafficking seeks to destroy every aspect of the person. The shame of human trafficking is crippling.

We are all affected. Human trafficking is part of our economic systems. Our neighbors fear for their children’s safety. Our youth are targeted.

How do we fight human trafficking?

How best do we protect the vulnerable?

Combating human trafficking is ultimately a spiritual issue. We begin by centering on Jesus. Jesus is the one that sets captives free. Only Jesus can really bring healing to the shamed woman who has been stripping for years to pay the bills. Our Redeemer, Jesus, brings genuine comfort to the man abused in the fields. Immanuel, God with us, is with refugees and homeless youth.

We are the hands and the voice of Jesus to those living on the margins, to people without hope, in need of justice and deliverance. Together, we bring transformational change to neighborhoods and systems. Empowered by the Spirit we can enact real change.

So, we begin by centering on Jesus. We pray. We confess our part in ignoring injustice. We repent. We change our shopping and voting habits. We think and speak differently. Our justice is driven by love. We live with generosity.

As we become more and more like Jesus we can’t help but be more compassionate. We naturally are drawn to speak out in love against injustice. We are eager to serve and give of our time, talents, and treasure.

This is the mission of the Church.

The Church is a mission outpost communicating a holistic gospel for all to hear and see. We witness as we work for the common good. We are grace embodied. It’s a high calling. As we live in this mission outpost we model what it means to live by faith, not fear. We exhibit genuine, extravagant generosity and hospitality. We are driven by love. We are a people of hope.

And this is a powerful witness to the world. Our attitudes, postures, and actions are not just symbolic, but truly transformational.

Set Free teams take all of this seriously. Real change is happening through our Wunders and Fostering Hope programs. Women in the strip clubs of Ohio are finding hope because our team there bravely walks into the darkness with light. Missing children in India are being found and placed into homes of safety in India through our team's work. We are in schools raising awareness, resourcing parents and educators. What we are doing is having an impact.

And all we do is centered on Jesus because this is a spiritual battle.

Would you consider joining our battle?

Will you fight alongside us?
